Easy Ways to Build Up an Awesome Exercise Habit
Have you been struggling to get into a regular exercise habit? Believe me, I know how that feels. We all know how beneficial regular exercise is to us. It makes us look AND feel great. It helps prevent disease and illness, it keeps our skin fresh and glowing, it keeps our bodies trim and lithe and develops gorgeous-looking muscle definition.
What keeps us from exercising regularly?
So, why then, can it be sooooo hard to get into a regular habit of exercising? I think it is because we can tend to set unrealistic goals and get despondent when we don’t achieve them immediately. When setting yourself health and fitness goals, go easy on yourself. This is not to say you cannot achieve high and wonderful goals, just give yourself enough time and the right setting so that you will STAY ON TRACK and not give up!
Convenient and Social
One of the MOST important tips (for me) when it comes to exercising regularly, is to make the exercise option CONVENIENT. If you need to commute far, if you have many obstacles in the way, you will make excuses not to do it. Make it close to your home / work / school. If you can, try not to go it alone either. Make it social with a group or a friend – the social aspect makes exercising more fun, plus you are less likely to bail out on your friend!
Push yourself a LITTLE further every time
Make progress by pushing yourself a little more each time. But just a little. And this adds up to a LOT very quickly! I increase my ‘planking’ time by 10 seconds a week. Achievable, easy – and DONE every week.
