Winter Style Guide & Beauty Tips

by

Yes, it’s cold! Yes, you will have to put your pretty sandals and strappy tops away for a few months. But, Winter style has a charm and chic of its own. So, don’t despair, embrace Winter style with glee, and stay warm!

Winter Classics
There is one thing that stands out the most about Winter style! The need for a great coat and pair of boots. These two things stand out for defining your Winter style. They are practical against the elements, and the style variations are amazing.

Coats

When it comes to a coat, it’s best to get the best you can afford right now, in a classic style that will last year after year. Black, tan and camel colors never go out of style. A classic Trench coat will be super fashionable now and stand the test of time in years to come. To give your trench an added twist, add a belt at the waist for a fashion-forward accessory that also gives the body shape.

Look after your classic coat! If it is made from leather or suede, make sure you get a specialized protection spray for the fabric and use it. If there are any marks or rips, get them dry-cleaned or mended straight away and your coat will look after you just as well as you look after it.

So, you’ve got your gorgeous classic, but its boring to wear the same thing every day. I hear you! Switch it up with brightly colored scarves. Have fun with faux fur, as an accessory or a full coat. Get some cheaper, more ‘current’ styles and mix it up – maybe a short, puffy ski-type jacket on some days. And when it’s really cold, don’t forget a lovely warm hat – you can lose up to 40% of your body heat through your head!

Boots

The other absolute must-have is a great pair of boots. Same rules as your coat apply – get the best you can afford, in a classic style and color and re-heel the minute there is a problem, and keep the fabric protected. Word of caution: Winter is a slippery affair, with rain, snow and sleet! Don’t go too high on the heel for your everyday boots, especially if you walk a fair distance. On your bottom in a puddle is NOT a good Winter look!

Must-have items!

Then, there are two things you HAVE to keep in your bag at all times! One is a good concealer, so you can touch up any red, blotchy bits after you’ve been outside in the cold air, and the other is a gorgeous, moisturizing lip balm to keep lips from getting chapped.

I love NARS Concealer – it brilliantly obscures imperfections and dark spots with a creamy, vitamin-rich formula that nourishes the skin for all-day wear, is crease-proof and easily blendable for a flawless finish and is enriched with moisturizing Vitamin E for that extra moisture in Winter.

NARS Concealer

You can use this classic anywhere on your face and body, but I love Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant for lips in Winter. The skincare classic that soothes, restores, calms and helps relieve chapped, cracked, dry skin. Soothes roughness, redness and minor skin irritations.
