Reverse Body Transformations – Part 2

by

Did you manage to read Part 1 in our discussion of Reverse Body Transformations? I hope so, but if not, let me recap quickly! Reverse Body Transformations have been a trend all over social media, in a world full of imagery showing impossibly lean women, there has been a bit of trend bucking!

A reverse body transformation is when (mainly women) put ON weight, instead of the ceaseless effort by women all over the world who are constantly trying to LOSE weight. Whether they do this by building a lot more muscle and strength, or simply by relaxing their previously stringent diet and exercise regimes, women are taking responsibility for their own happiness by focusing on a balanced approach.

How awesome is THAT?

A reverse body transformation is not about ‘letting yourself go’, it’s about finding balance in life, and doing what makes you truly happy. And because we (society) has obsessed over extremely lean, hairless, perpetually tanned bodies for women, a reverse body transformation means putting ON weight.

So, practically, how do you do this while staying healthy?

It’s NOT about eating a load of junk food all the time (although having some junk food might be on the cards!)

IT IS about:

  • Eating regularly – at least every 4 hours
  • Eating several foods together at once eg. Wholewheat toast with almond butter and sliced banana, and a glass of milk
  • Eating dense, nutrient rich foods like unsweetened dried fruit or protein balls
  • Including nuts, meat, eggs and milk in your diet
  • Taking in calories with liquid, such as fruit juices and smoothies
  • Making sure you have enough carbs, such as rice, sweet potato or oatmeal
  • Making sure EVERY meal includes some veggies
  • Incorporating oils such as olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil

From an exercise perspective, the idea is to get STRONG! Great exercises that produce results are called complex or compound exercises, that use many muscle groups at once. Exercises such as bench pressing, overhead presses, squats and deadlifts produce fabulous results. It’s important to give the muscles enough rest afterwards ‘though, so that the muscle can build up again and get stronger and bigger.

While doing some cardio is always beneficial, you can cut down on cardio when creating a reverse body transformation.

Yes, and one more thing – you need enough sleep. Make sure you pack in your zzzzzzzzzzzz’s!

So, you see, its all about balance. If you enjoy the glass of wine and dark chocolate, have it. Enjoy your life and no extremes, your body and health will thank you for it!

And while we’re talking about enjoying life, I’ll be chatting about some amazing office to party make up tricks next……it’s time to have some fun!
