Don’t you just love the feeling of having skin that is smooth, soft and supple? We all spend a lot more time taking care of the skin on our faces, but the body needs some TLC too! And when you give your skin some love, it responds by glowing with health and looking fantastic, which is another benefit during Summer, when skin is not hiding behind long pants and coats!
In Part 1 of the Step-by-Step Bodycare series, we discussed the benefits of dry body brushing, which are numerous and quite frankly, brilliant. Today, in part 2, we’ll talk about moisturizing – just as important as Part 1!
Here are some top tips for moisturizing!
- It is best to use moisturizer after a bath, shave or exfoliation. Moisturizing after a shower is very important because hot water strips all the moisture and oils out of your skin, leaving it parched and dry. While hot water may be relaxing, it also wreaks havoc on your skin, so never skip the moisturizer.
- Moisturizing everyday can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Both extremes are harmful for skin and cause common skin conditions like acne.
- After a shower gently pat your skin dry instead of rubbing your skin dry. By patting dry your skin will retain more moisture you are going to seal in when you moisturize.
- Soaps and shampoos that contain alcohol strip natural oils from your skin. Look for a mild, fragrance-free cleanser!
When it comes to products, we are lucky to be spoilt for choice, with lotions, creams, body butters, body milk and body oils. There is something ideal to suit every skin type and budget!
