Summer Perfume Ideas and Tips

by

Summer time comes with all its own rules! The number 1 rule – enjoy the sun, the sea, the warm breeze, the light fabrics and golden tans. Summer is a time for freedom, for nature and for a lightening up of everything! And that certainly includes perfumes and scents.

Lighten Up Time!

Summer means letting go of some of the heavier scent profiles, as in the heat they will intensify and be more cloying than pleasant. Certain notes in your favorite perfumes just won’t smell as delicious as they do in the colder weather. Examples are heavy florals such as patchouli, cloying oriental notes, strong vanilla notes and anything that is strong on the sweet end of the fragrance scale.

Shopping Time!

So, it’s a GREAT time to go perfume shopping. See if your favorite brand has a summer version of a scent you love. Or try something totally, fabulously, completely new and different! Notes to look out for include berries, flowers, citrus, green grass and tropical notes. Deeeeee-vine!

If you’re finding that perfume is just TOO much, you can get your lovely fragrance wafting around you by using a body wash and moisturizer in your favorite scent.

Clinique’s ‘Happy’ scent is classic, fresh citrus and floral summer scent! It is also available in a body wash and body cream, that hydrates skin, leaves it lightly scented with the fresh, vibrant notes of Clinique Happy – a hint of citrus, a wealth of flowers, a mix of emotions. Wear it and be happy all over. Perfect for light scent layering or a gorgeous Summer gift!

Another beautiful Summer lovin’ fragrance is Hermes Eau D’Orange Verte Eau De Cologne, created by Françoise Caron in 1979 and inspired by the smell of undergrowth moist with morning dew. It has since asserted itself as an emblem of Hermès, standing out through its distinctive freshness. Conceived as an explosion of citrus notes, orange plays the main part, supported by zest and leaves, lemon, mandarin, mint and blackcurrant bud. The fragrance reveals its complexity in a unique sillage composed of oak moss

For a different take on Summer, one that brings to mind cool, mossy forests, try Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne – it reminds us of childhood memories of blackberry picking. A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, featuring the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods, it is vibrant and verdant.

  • Top notes: Blackberry
  • Heart notes: Bay
  • Base notes: Cedar Wood
