Concealed Genius : Multitasking Concealer Hacks

Hello my beautiful ones! Today, I want to give the spotlight to a humble member of the makeup foundation family – the concealer. Concealer is one of those items we all have, and we all need, yet it doesn’t get much limelight in the ‘sexy’ makeup stakes. However, it is one of those hard workers that will keep surprising you with how much MORE they can do than first meets the eye!

Yes, there is the very important job of concealing under eye circles and blemishes. But there is so much more to this little number! Check out some alternative uses, and make sure you give your concealer the love and extra attention it deserves!

Fuller Lips

One of the secrets to a fuller looking pout is to apply your lipstick, and dot a small amount of concealer onto the middle of your top and bottom lip and use your finger to blend it out. This creates an amazing illusion of fuller lips, if you don’t believe me, try it right now! A great one to try for this (and all the other uses mentioned in this article too) is Clinique Airbrush Concealer. A creamy, light formula flows through for smooth brush-on, precision application. And when you’re not using it to perfect the pout, it instantly helps soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles with light-diffusing optics that also brighten shadows!

Beautiful Brows

We all have those few days where there are strays showing beneath our marvelous brow arches. And its good ol’ concealer to the rescue again with this one too! Dot it on under your brow arches and blend it in with your finger to cover stray hairs and give definition to the brow. NARS Concealer is excellent for this as it brilliantly obscures imperfections and dark spots with a creamy, vitamin-rich formula that nourishes the skin for all-day wear. It’s also crease-proof and easily blendable for a flawless finish around the eye area.

Shaping Up

Using concealer to contour your face can result in a more natural finish than some of the bespoke contouring products out there. You’ll need to get two shades of concealer to do this, one shade two to three shades darker than your skin tone to contour, and another two to three shades lighter than your skin tone to highlight. Use the darker shade and focus on the area around your hairline, under your cheekbones, down the sides of your nose, under the tip of your nose, under your jawline, under the tip of your chin and in the socket line of the eye. Highlight areas like the tops of your cheekbones and outer corners of the eye sockets. Then blend, blend, blend. After you have applied your normal foundation, the effect is super natural and subtle, yet flattering.

Eyeshadow Primer

Did you know that your concealer stick doubles up as a handy eyeshadow primer? Sweep onto eyelids to blur imperfections and minimize any darkness for perfectly prepped lids that are just sooooo ready for your gorgeous shades! Dr.Hauschka Concealer is a great liquid concealer that blends away redness, blemishes and irregular pigmentation in an easy-to-apply fluid consistency. It’s easy to apply with a hygienic twistable wand and it blends and conceals as it nurtures and soothes. All-natural plant and mineral ingredients are gentle enough for sensitive skin, even near the eyes.
