I don’t know about you but I always get a little nervous when there is a major occasion coming up, and it means loads of photos are going to be taken. And those photos are going to be around for a long time, forever defining you in that moment.
So, it’s not a bad thing, but OBVIOUSLY you want to look your best for these life-defining, mantelpiece-worthy occasions. You know, like graduation, or yearbook photos. Mom and Dad will have them out there for everyone to see for a very long time!
Tweak your makeup, gorgeous!
There are a few small tweaks you can make to your makeup to ensure you look totally fabulous on the day, in real life, AND in the pictures!
Foundation, Concealer, Powder
Start with foundation – a mattifying, full-coverage base makeup will help your skin to look smooth and even, and combat most shininess. Using a makeup brush will help to blend the product into a natural-looking finish. Blending is super important when it comes to photographs, as any lines will show up more in photos.
Try Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation SPF 20, it features innovative Matte Adapt Complex™ with SPF 20, which self-corrects signs of imperfection for a long-lasting, impeccable complexion. It evens out skin tone and offer rub-resistant, 12-hour wear.
Concealer can be applied on top of your foundation – and it’s wise to pay attention to the area around your nostrils, the shallow area underneath your eye and into any laugh lines. Use a minimal amount of concealer and blend well. Then, follow with translucent Powder lightly swept onto the face where needed. The flash of a camera will bounce off makeup, so it’s important that your blending of concealer is harmonious with your foundation.
You can frame your face beautifully by paying a little extra attention to the brows. Eyebrows add structure to the eye and a fuller brow also makes your face look younger and fresher, but be careful not to overdo it! If you fill the brow in a natural way it will have have dimension and not look too sharp or too opaque for everyday wear. You can use an eyebrow pencil to create hair-like strokes within the brow as you fill.
Using three colors (a neutral, a darker shade, and a highlighter) will make your eyes appear brighter and larger in pictures. A really cool trick is to create an ombre effect by going one shade darker at the tail end of the brow, while keeping the first two thirds lighter. This really defines your brows without looking too obvious!
Urban Decay Brow Box Eyebrow Power, Wax & Tools is infused with nourishing Aloe, Beeswax and Coconut. The soft, pliable perfecting / setting wax provides the perfect amount of grip without being sticky. The brow box lets you create defined, natural-looking brows.
And of course, the eyes themselves need a little special attention too! Start with a classic defining shape. Neutral shadow over the lid will even things out, darker shadow in the crease will make your eyes pop, and highlighter at the inner corner and on the brow bone will brighten up the darker areas of the eye. Choose an eyeshadow color that’s close to your skin tone and apply it to your lid.

For photos, it’s best to use a lip brush and press the color into the mouth. It gives you ultimate control and maximum coverage. Nude is one of the most sought-after colors in lipstick because there are so many to choose from, and it is a staple shade in modern beauty. The truth is anyone can wear many shades of nude — but it’s all about the application.
